Occupational Therapy

Getting Started

We understand that every therapy journey is unique. Our introduction process is designed to be supportive, personalised, and focused on your needs. We take the time to build trust, understand your strengths and challenges, and create a therapy plan that aligns with your goals.

Step 1: Parent/guardian planning meeting.

Your first session is a one-on-one consultation with your therapist, conducted online, via phone, or in person. This is an opportunity to discuss your needs, challenges, and goals in a comfortable setting. Your therapist will gather key information, including your medical history, daily living abilities, workplace or home challenges, and emotional well-being.

Sessions usually last 60–90 minutes.

Step 2: Meet & Goal Setting Session

This session focuses on building rapport and further understanding your unique needs. Your therapist will work with you to identify key areas of focus and explore strategies to enhance your daily life. Whether it’s improving motor skills, communication, emotional regulation, or mental well-being, this session helps shape your personalised therapy plan.

Session length: 30–45 minutes.

Step 3: Therapy Plan Development

After the initial sessions (and sometimes a few additional assessments), your therapist will create a comprehensive Therapy Plan outlining key goals, tailored strategies, and a clear pathway for achieving meaningful progress.

Time required: 90–120 minutes (completed outside of session time).

Step 4: Therapy Sessions Begin

Regular therapy sessions will be scheduled based on your needs, with most clients choosing weekly or fortnightly sessions. Therapy is flexible and can be adapted as your progress and needs evolve.
